Mamie's Birthday

We had Mamie's 3rd birthday party last weekend at Fall's Park in Pendleton.  Mamie loved it and she and Nick ran around so much they were all dirty and red faced by the end of the party.  We thought it was a great location for a party and really enjoyed it!

"I'm 3!"
For food, we set up a Dora's Hot Dog Bar where we featured Founder's Dogs (bacon, cole slaw, barbecue sauce, onions), Chicago Dogs (pickle, onion, ketchup, mustard, relish), and Chili Cheese Dogs.  We had signs that told what each hot dog consisted of and had the toppings for them by the signs.  I forgot to get a picture of it but people seemed to like it!  We also had a Walking Taco Bar where people could top bags of Fritos with whatever toppings they want, cheese tray, veggie tray, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches cut into butterflies and stars.

Then for dessert we had these Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes I saw on BettyCrocker.com.  Mamie wanted strawberry cake again and you just pour the cake batter in the ice cream cones and bake them like normal.  I set them in my muffin pan so they were a little steadier and baked for about 25 minutes.  Then we frosted and poured some sprinkles on.  They really were a hit at the party...most people couldn't believe you can just bake the cones.  They turned out great and the birthday girl liked them too.  :)
I also wanted to make some sugar cookies and personalize them for Mamie's birthday.  I used half of the No Fail Sugar Cookie Recipe that Ali uses.  It was my first time making these and the cookies turned out great and flavorful.  I also tried to make the Wilton Royal Icing Recipe, but didn't have such good luck with it.  I think I need a lesson from Ali on this!  I think I was too impatient with it so I ended up throwing it away and using some regular cookie icing.  At least they look cute though!

Check out this Happy Birthday Mamie banner made by Ali! It was so cute made out of Mamie's choice of Tinkerbell and Dora fabric. Thank you so much Aunt Al!  This was the focus point of the decorations.  We also hung a bunch of butterflies around the covered shelter.

It's a tradition at our kid's birthday parties to let off balloons.  They love it!
Yummy cupcakes!
I know it' a cliche, but I can't believe my little baby girl is 3 and how fast it's gone!  Have a great weekend!
