Valentine's Day

We never do much for Valentine's Day in our household.  With the kids getting older though, it's getting more fun!  Nick exchanged Valentine's with the kids in his preschool class and I volunteered for his class Valentine's Day party.  Let me tell you, a class of 16 preschools sure keep things busy and interesting!

Ali made Nick and Mamie the cutest Valentine's Day shirts.  She had these in her etsy shop as well so keep these in mind for next year!

I did have to bake something to celebrate Valentine's Day.  After I baked a bunch of Pumpkin Rolls over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, I wanted to try a different flavor of cake roll.  I figured what better fit to Valentine's Day then a Red Velvet Cake Roll.  Red Velvet has always been my favorite cake flavor so when I saw this recipe on Sweet Pea's Kitchen, I knew I found the recipe I was looking for!  I brought the leftovers in to work and people loved it as well.  So...if you're looking for an impressive but easy cake, try this one!

The kids also helped me bake some sugar cookies.  I had intended to roll them out and make them into hearts that look like the conversation hearts you can buy in the store, but I got lazy and made them into drop cookies instead.  Oh well...I think they still look cute and they tasted good too!
