Holliday Park Trail Run

Last weekend I participated in the Holliday Park Trail Run. I sure didn’t know what I was getting myself into! It was a 5 mile course with hills, steps to climb, streams to go over, and mud to trek over. Some pre-race, non-muddy pictures...

It didn’t help that it rained the day before so the trails were really muddy! There were a couple guys in front of me towards the beginning who got a bit too impatient and decided to jump over the creek instead of slowly filtering through the small bridge. One of them didn’t make it and ended up losing a shoe in the water and couldn’t find it! At the end of the course, we had to run up a steep incline that was so muddy that we had to use a pull rope to pull ourselves up. Shortly after I made it up that hill though, I spotted 2 little kids in red cheering for me! Nick finished the race with me and it was pretty cute.

Then it was time for the Tot Trot which both Nick and Mamie loved! They were split into age groups and ran around a cone and back.

Nick was disappointed because he wanted to run a long race like Mommy. So we made up a course around our neighborhood after we got home and the kids had 3 “races” themselves. Fun.

We talked to some long distance runners after the race and they said they think this is the hardest race in Indy. It was a fun one though and I’d like to do it again next year…hopefully with less mud though!
